The Day without Rest (from HGU days)

Every time I meet a Handong University student, I always tell them, “Do NOT give in to the Busy Culture. Weigh out what is truly valuable and let go of the rest.”

And I found this journal entry from my 3rd year of college that pretty much sums up a day of being too busy. Looking back on this, I could have said NO to half of these things. If you are a Handong student, please don’t give in to the temptation of usefulness. Plan with God. He doesn’t want or need a working machine. He wants sons and daughters.

Anyways, Without further ado, <Officially “The Day without Rest”>

Date: May 22, 2011 (Sunday)

  • woke up @ 7:00 a.m. because roommate’s alarm kept ringing. did Q.T., prepared for Sunday School, rendered video to show Prof. H
  • HIC: Took pics of African Community worship service
  • HIC: Sunday School skit practice. Major hectic. Discouraged.
  • Skipped lunch to make Latino ppt for Culture Night
  • Chopped veggies with Latinos
  • Sunday School Life Group: very helpful. Repented from planning skit without God. Decided to cancel skit because we weren’t doing it with right motives.
  • Prepared to go meet Prof. H and ate ramen.
  • Met Prof. H. Discussed my documentary. Was told that I had only 20% ready.
  • Hyoam Annex 3rd floor and Debi’s house: preparation or Latino food
  • Culture Night: took pictures and videos, performed with the Latinos.
  • Came back to dormitory (I-House): ate porridge (provided by Elaine)
  • 11pm R.A. work
  • Can’t sleep because I’m too tired.

God. Today was hectic. I don’t want to plan anything without you anymore. I deeply repent of this. I come to You with zero strength and completely broken down. Finish what you’ve started in me.
