[Guest Post] A Poem about Gas

[Archive from June 1, 2020; minor edits]

I shared some inner struggles with a friend, and the lovely poem below was part of her response.

I am thankful for bosom friends who point towards God and make you laugh and can make a cheesy poem while doing so. ♡

At least I don’t have really bad gas 🤣
(Read the poem and you will know what I mean)

Ah Eli belly.

It’s ok to feel like a mess.
Life is not exactly like chess.
If we only worked with strategy, logic and finesse
Life wouldn’t be so complicated with our emotions and heartbreaks, yes?

You’re not alone in this–this too shall pass
But in the meantime, you have your Father, Jesus, Holy Spirit and this ol’ lass 😉
I know this sounds really low-class
But just to add a bit of humor–at least you don’t have really bad gas

All to say–you are very loved, my friend.
It’s ok to feel like a mess.
Life is not exactly like chess.

You and Me

A poem about what I thought marriage would look like. Haven’t been married yet, but this is how I hope my marriage plays out:

You are my best friend,
I am your best friend.

I like what you say,
you like what I say.

I listen to you,
you listen to me.

I don’t always understand you,
you don’t always understand me.

I want to be with you,
you want to be with me.

I love you,
you love me.

Two Little Friends

Two delicate friends
Dropped by my windowsill

Were you traveling together?
Or did you meet here casually?

Sorry for cutting your trip short,
It was not my intention to retain you

But you do look so cute!

Side by side,
Stuck together,

For better or for worse
